From buzzword to significance.
The pursuit of purpose.

— Designing learning experiences for leaders, in collaboration with Shanghai.Berlin.

Quickfacts
Transdisciplinary inhouse-salons dedicated to entrepreneurial questions
Duration: 1 Evening each
Text: Karoline Rütter

In summer 2019 we teamed up with creative agency Shanghai.Berlin to launch an event series that stimulates the search for purpose in business beyond superficiality and whitewashing.

Conversations that bear artistic qualities.

Our aim was to engage participants in debates that have transformative power. Because to us expanding perception, reframing our own perspectives and shifting world views are the fundamental qualities of any artistic practice after all.
People, Planet and Poetry

The three first rounds of our event took place in Berlin and Frankfurt. For each one we invited groups of around 20 leaders to participate in intimate conversations, sparked by three stories of speakers we invited. After each talk we invited participants to debate in small groups over food and drinks.
Our three speakers shed light on three aspects on purpose.

The poetic side of business:
What does beauty mean in an entrepreneurial context?
The economic philosopher Nika Wiedinger tells us the exciting story of a successful entrepreneur who deliberately founded a "senseless" company in the 1970s.

The people side of business:
What distinguishes a good interpersonal relationship? The lawyer Dr. Miriam Saage-Maaß of the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights is committed to corporate responsibility in compliance with human rights.

The Planet side of business:
The entrepreneur Guya Merkle has transformed the jewellery business VIERI inherited from her father by working exclusively with ethically correct and recycled gold. She pursues nothing less than the vision to transform the gold market in terms of humanity.
